While love is, of course, portrayed as a positive force of magic in Harry Potter and horcruxes as evil, I've found a different and interesting way of looking things. A sort of analogy that is intriguing if, perhaps, not fully accurate and perfect.
It struck me, the other day, that falling in love with someone is like using a living being as a horcrux. You are imparting part of yourself (your heart, your soul, some integral part, however you want to look at it) to this other person who has the power to completely destroy it and you should they choose to. And you can really only hope that they take care of it.
The analogy doesn't go much farther than that but I did think it was interesting.
